News Blackout over.....

It’s been a really exciting month here in Maui. Now that all the 2008 prototypes have gone back in their wrapping and away from prying eye’s here's what i've been upto!!

The photoshoot started off with unusual weather, this caused us to do a fair bit of driving between the North Shore (spots like Kanaha and Hookipa) and Kiehi on the south shore as we looking for perfect water colour and nice blue skies. As i'd recently acquired a Nissan Quest (for the grand sum of $300) this was no problem in me and it has proved a worthy steed, that earned the accolade that “The Quest is best”. Not only has this $300 beauty done the (decent) hour trip to lahina on a fair number of occations, it also survived the road to Hana, where I relaxed for an amazing weekend camping once the hard work of the shoot was done!

Though it was ofcause hardwork the photoshoot was also really fun, it gave me the chance to sail on the whole board range. From the mighty Shark to the Allwaves and some great sessions under the helicopter on the Falcons, which makes you feel like a movie star!!. For each of the boards you have to show as much as possible about the characteristics through one image, so need to adapt your posses accordingly. For the Shark which is a great intermediate blasting board you might throw a “shaka” salute with a cheeky grin, while on the Falcons you just need to look double hard and go fast as hell, it really is great fun and something I dreamed about as a kid.

This time of year on Maui is also great as I have loads of mates here from the PWA tour and a few semi locals brits, such as Wixie and Sid who came and never left. It’s like one big family who you bump into every where, whether its at the beach, in the shops or in the Friday night get together in Jacques restaurant and bar, where if your lucky you will also meet the most amazing people from Marin county.

Even in Maui the wind doen't blow all the time, on the no wind days I also got in a few rounds of golf (which I’m rubbish at) been training in the Gym with Arnon, Ieven got out surfing a couple of times. You may also of read elsewhere that TEAM FANATIC took on our sister team Mistral at footy and totlaly spanked them 11 : 3 including a coupe of cheeky ones by yours truely, if only the mighty gooners could have done a bit more of that this season!! I've put together the gallery bellow with a few shots, the windsurfing ones are last years shoot as the new ones are still "top secret"! I hope you enjoy and I’ll get some more pix of Hana up soon to show you there really is more to Maui than just perfect waves and lots of wind….. Aloha
